đź’ĄLiving in the trenches

🌟Sept 24 Free Training

Reactivity isn’t just something I work with—it’s something I live with and have almost always lived with.

I’ve almost always had reactive dogs, and that’s part of what led me into dog training in the first place. Like many trainers, I learned through necessity: navigating meltdowns, searching for answers, and discovering strategies that actually make a difference.

My first dogs were special behaviour cases via rescues, and now I have Jubilee who has medical challenges. Dogs of all sorts can be reactive and it isn't your fault =)

In this week’s podcast, I’m sharing two things I think you’ll find valuable:

  1. Why dogs sometimes “explode out of nowhere.” We’ll look at the underlying causes and how to better predict and prevent these moments.
  2. A recent success story with Jubilee. Her progress highlights what’s possible when we focus on building confidence and resilience—not just suppressing behavior.

If you’ve ever felt blindsided by your dog’s reaction, this episode will help you understand what’s happening under the surface.

Supporting dogs through reactivity isn’t easy, but it is absolutely possible. With the right approach, we can help them become calmer, more confident, and more adaptable companions who enjoy life out there with us.

Warmly,
Christina

P.s During the workshop, I will be opening the doors to my signature 8 week reactivity training & coaching program, Leash Reactivity Deep Dive with a special limited time bonus.

Hi there, Can you see how much fun Riker and Jubilee are having in these videos? That’s what training should look like — joyful, connected, and fun for both you and your dog. Not all training is upbeat and energetic, but it should always feel safe, kind, and connected. A friend sent me a post from a well-known trainer who said their distracted dog needed its mouth held shut and to be flipped on its back. Suddenly the dog follows them everywhere - not surprisingly. Dogs are the most forgiving...
