⚠️ Comfort Can Stall Progress

Are you managing your dog—or training your dog? Ideally, you’re doing both.

In the picture above, Jubilee was about 2 years old, at the worst of her health and behaviour problems. We were in a hardware store when another dog walked into our aisle. I gave her a fun game to play - I distracted her. That is management.

All dogs need management. Puppies, new dogs, and dogs who are still learning all rely on management to stay out of trouble and to prevent rehearsing behaviors we don’t want.

But some people get stuck managing. Once you have a management plan that actually works, it can be a very comfortable place to stay. And if that’s a conscious choice, there’s nothing wrong with it!

But if you want your dog to progress, management alone isn’t enough. We also need training.

Management creates safety. Training creates change.

Management is what allows us to push boundaries while still being (and feeling) safe.

Do you know which of your games and techniques are management, and which ones are training?

That awareness is an important step in learning how to make progress.

If your dog is struggling, it's not your fault. The dogs of today are often unlike dogs from years ago who would just seamlessly fit into a family's daily life as long as they got regular walks.

In this webinar, we will talk about why some dogs need... different. Not necessarily more, but different things than you might think they need.

🤔 Understand why your dog struggles so much to do 'normal dog' stuff.

💡 Learn what your dog needs in order to succeed

Come with your questions, or email me your questions ahead of time if you are not able to make it live.

✅ Perfect for puppies, adult dogs, and reactive dogs

✅ Short, fun games you can weave into daily life

P.S. If you’re looking for deeper support and training with a clear plan after the webinar, enrollment for my brand new Dream Dog program will open during the webinar.

Does the big picture of where you want to be with your dog feel overwhelming to even think about? "I know where I'd love to be, but that's so far away with so many hoops to jump through to get there." That's what one of my Dream Dog students said at the start of our planning session yesterday. The big goal was to be able to take...

A pet owner typically wants their dog fully integrated into family life, including meeting friends and family, and maybe even going on vacation. You didn't know that your dog would struggle seeing other dogs or when kids were playing nearby, or when traffic drive by. You didn't know you'd be staying home more and that you'd be looking for specialty pet sitters. It's not your fault that this is confusing. Even if you 'did the research', it's easy to end up in this position. A rescue dog living...
